Tools Required:

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking and writing sizes
  • A worksheet to note down your measurements
  • A ladder if you are working with tall windows

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Do not confuse height with width when writing down sizes, as this can cause incorrect fitting.
  • When measuring more than one window, check each one separately. Even small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measurement:

  • Measure the exact area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light coming through, we recommend the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The overlap at the bottom depends on your preference, but keep obstacles such as radiators in mind.
  • Always use a metal measuring tape, as cloth ones can stretch and give inaccurate sizes.

Inside Recess Measurement:

  • This is the measurement you need if you want the blind to sit inside the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess. We will then make the necessary adjustments for a proper fit.
  • Take measurements in three places for both width and drop, then use the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make deductions yourself – we will do that to ensure the blind fits correctly.
  • Always use a metal measuring tape for accuracy.

When fitting, make sure you have all the parts supplied with your blind.

Additional Tools You Will Need:

  • 2 top-fix brackets
  • 2 face-fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • A drill with the correct bits
  • A cross-head screwdriver
  • A metal measuring tape

Face Fix Fitting:

  • Place the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail position. If more than two brackets are supplied, fit the extra ones evenly along the blind’s length.
  • Make sure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface where you are mounting the brackets.
  • To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate the headrail into place. Secure it by tightening the small screw on the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Fitting:

  • Before fixing, measure carefully and allow space for any obstacles such as window handles.
  • Place the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail position, ensuring clearance for window handles. Extra brackets should be placed evenly across the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings are right for the wall or surface.
  • To fit, tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket. Rotate until it clicks into position. To remove, press the bracket release point.
