Tools You Will Need:

  • A steel measuring tape.
  • A pencil for marking and recording.
  • A worksheet to note down all measurements.
  • A ladder, if measuring tall windows.

Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Never confuse width with height when writing your measurements, as this could result in blinds that do not fit properly.
  • If you are measuring several windows, measure each one individually. Do not assume they are all the same size, as small differences can affect the fit.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as fabric ones may stretch or bend, giving inaccurate results.

Measuring for Outside Recess

  • Measure the exact area you would like the blind to cover.
  • To reduce light leakage, allow the blind to overlap the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The bottom overlap is your choice, but always consider items such as radiators that may be in the way.
  • Use a steel tape measure for the most reliable results.

Measuring for Inside Recess

  • Measure the full width and drop of the recess (the inside space of the window).
  • Take three measurements across the width and three across the drop, then use the smallest figures for accuracy.
  • Do not make your own deductions – this will be handled when the blinds are manufactured to ensure a perfect fit.
  • A steel tape measure is strongly recommended for correct sizes.

Please check you have the following items supplied with your blind:

Included Items:

  • 2 top fix brackets.
  • 2 face fix brackets.
  • 1 set of hangers.
  • 1 Allan key.
  • 2 stabilising chains.
  • 1 safety hook.
  • 4 wood screws.
  • 1 weight.

Tools You May Need:

  • A pencil for marking.
  • Extra screws if required.
  • A drill with the correct drill bits.
  • A crosshead screwdriver.
  • A steel measuring tape.

Face Fix Fitting

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from either end of where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extras evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings you use are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate into position. Tighten the short screw at the front of the bracket to secure the headrail in place.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Before fitting, check for obstructions such as handles inside the recess and allow enough clearance.
  • Place the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail position to ensure handles are cleared. If extra brackets are provided, fit them evenly across the rail.
  • Confirm the fixings are suitable for the ceiling or recess surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate until it clicks securely.
  • To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket and lift the rail away.
