TOOLS REQUIRED FOR VERTICAL BLINDS:

  • A steel measuring tape
  • A pencil for marking and recording measurements
  • A worksheet to note down the measurements
  • A ladder if your windows are tall

TIPS FOR ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS:

  • Keep height and width measurements separate. Swapping them can cause the blind not to fit.
  • Measure each window individually. Do not assume that windows are exactly the same, as small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess

Measure the area where you want the blind to overlap. To prevent light from leaking, it is recommended that the blind extends at least 70mm above the recess and 50mm on each side.

The bottom overlap is your choice, but be mindful of obstacles such as radiators.

Use a metal tape measure, as fabric or cloth ones may stretch or bend and give inaccurate measurements.

Inside Recess

If you want the blind to fit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. Appropriate deductions will be made to ensure the blind fits perfectly.

Take measurements in three different places for both width and height, and use the smallest measurement for accuracy.

Do not make your own deductions; these will be done to guarantee a proper fit.

Always use a metal tape measure for reliable results.

Check that all items supplied with the blind are included before starting.

ADDITIONAL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 hanger
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

Position the brackets roughly 5cm in from each end of the headrail. If there are more than two brackets, space the rest evenly along the length of the blind. Make sure the wall or surface can support the fixings.

Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and tighten the small screw at the front to secure it.

Top Fix

Mark the fixing points clearly, leaving space for window handles or other obstacles in the recess. Place the brackets about 10cm in from each end of the headrail. If additional brackets are supplied, space them evenly along the blind. Check that the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.

Tilt the headrail and hook it into the brackets, rotate it until it clicks into position, and to release it later, press the release point on the bracket.
