When fitting outside the recess, measure the full area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, it is best for the blind to overlap the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on both sides.
The amount of overlap at the bottom depends on personal preference, but always allow space for obstacles such as radiators. Use a steel tape measure, as fabric ones can bend or stretch and may give incorrect results.
If you want your blind fitted within the recess, measure the exact width and height of the space. Adjustments will then be made to guarantee a proper fit.
Always measure in three different places for both width and drop, then use the smallest figure. Do not make your own deductions, as these will be taken care of during production. Use a steel tape measure, as fabric types can stretch and give false readings.
Before starting, check that all the necessary fittings are included with your vertical blind.
Fit the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail position. If more than two brackets are provided, space the extras evenly across the blind. Always make sure the fixings are suitable for the type of surface you are mounting onto.
To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and tighten the short screw at the front to hold it securely.
Mark your measurements carefully, leaving space for obstacles such as window handles that stick out into the recess. Place the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail position so that the window handle can open properly. If more than two brackets are supplied, fix the others at equal spacing across the blind. Again, check that your fittings are correct for the surface.
To attach, tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket. Rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove it, press the bracket release point to free the headrail.
