Measure the exact area where the blind will cover. To reduce light gaps, it is recommended that the blind overlaps the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
The bottom overlap is up to personal preference but remember to allow space for obstacles such as radiators. Use a steel tape measure, as cloth ones can stretch or bend, giving inaccurate results.
If you want the blind to sit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the recess. Appropriate deductions will be made to ensure a perfect fit.
Measure in three locations for both width and drop, and use the smallest measurement. Do not make your own deductions; the manufacturer will adjust the size to guarantee a proper fit. Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy, as cloth tapes can stretch.
Before starting, make sure you have all the parts included with your vertical blind.
Position the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will sit. If there are more than two brackets, space the remaining ones evenly along the length of the blind. Make sure the fixings are suitable for your wall or mounting surface.
Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and secure it by tightening the short screw at the front.
Mark the measurements carefully and allow space for obstacles such as window handles that protrude into the recess. Position the brackets around 10cm from each end to ensure clearance for the handles. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the others evenly along the blindβs length. Ensure that the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
Tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket, then rotate until it clicks. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the release point to free it.
