Slat-only measuring means recording just the length of the fabric when it is laid flat. The standard width of a slat is usually 89mm, which is the most common size and the one available in most fabrics.

When ordering, always make sure the fabric you choose matches this width. Measure to the nearest centimetre and subtract 1cm from both the height and width. Please do not make any other deductions yourself.

If no slat is available, follow these steps:

  • Measure the required size at your window.
  • Measure from the top track opening down to where you want the slat to end.
  • The slat should stop about 13mm above any obstruction, such as a window sill or radiator.

Counting and calculating the number of slats required:

  • Count the existing slats or the number of carriers on your headrail.
  • Enter the total quantity when placing your order.

Make sure you have the following items when fitting your vertical blind:

Additional tools and parts required:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • A drill with the correct bits
  • A cross-head screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail.
  • If more than two brackets are provided, space the extra brackets evenly along the length of the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings are suitable for the type of wall or surface you are attaching them to.
  • To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and secure it by tightening the small screw at the front.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark the distance carefully, especially if there are obstacles such as handles that stick into the recess.
  • Place the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail to make sure there is clearance for the handles.
  • If you have more than two brackets, fit the extra ones evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Check that all fixings are suitable for the surface you are mounting them on.
  • To fit, tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into position.
  • To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket.
