Be careful not to mix up height and width when writing down measurements. Swapping these could lead to a blind that does not fit properly. If you are measuring several windows, do not assume they are all the same size. Measure each window individually, as small differences can affect how the blinds sit.
Measure the exact area where you want the blind to cover. To reduce light coming in around the edges, it is best for the blind to extend at least 70mm above the recess and 50mm on each side. The amount of overlap at the bottom is your choice, but make sure to leave space for radiators or other obstacles. Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes can stretch and give inaccurate measurements.
If you want the blind to sit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the recess. The correct deductions will then be applied to ensure a perfect fit.
Take three measurements for both the width and the drop, using the smallest measurement for each. Do not make any deductions yourself, as these will be calculated to guarantee the blind fits properly. A metal tape measure should be used to avoid inaccuracies.
Before fitting, make sure you have all the parts supplied with your blind:
For face fixing, place the brackets approximately 5cm from both ends of where the headrail will be positioned. If more than two brackets are included, space the additional ones evenly across the width. Make sure that the fixings are suitable for the surface you are mounting to.
Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into position. Secure the headrail by tightening the short screw on the front of the bracket.
For top fixing, measure and mark the space carefully, leaving room for window handles or other items that stick into the recess. Place the brackets about 10cm from the ends to clear the handles. If there are more than two brackets, space them evenly across the length. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
Tilt the headrail into the brackets and rotate it until it clicks into place. To release the headrail, press the release point on the bracket.
