A slat-only measurement refers to the vertical blind fabric laid flat and includes only the fabric length. The standard slat width is 89mm, which is by far the most common size and the one offered in most fabrics.

When placing an order, make sure the fabric width you select is correct. Measurements should be taken to the nearest centimetre. Then subtract 1cm from both the height and width. Do not make any further deductions.

If no slat is available, follow these steps:

  1. Measure the exact size needed for your window.
  2. Take the measurement from the headrail track down to where you want the slat to finish.
  3. The slat should end around 13mm above any obstruction, such as a windowsill or radiator.

Counting and Ordering Slats:

  • Count your current slats or check the number of carriers on your headrail.
  • Enter the total number required when ordering.

Fitting Guide

When fitting your vertical blind, make sure you have the following included items:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • A drill with correct drill bits
  • A cross-head screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting

  • Position the brackets roughly 5cm from each end of the area where the headrail will be fitted.
  • If more than two brackets are provided, place the extras evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Check that your fixings are strong enough for the type of wall or surface.
  • To fit, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate into place, and secure by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Measure and mark carefully to allow clearance for any handles or other obstacles inside the recess.
  • Position brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail so that the blind clears window handles.
  • If you have more than two brackets, space the extras evenly along the headrail length.
  • Confirm that the fixings are suitable for the mounting surface.
  • To install, tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket at the marked point. Rotate it into place until it clicks.
  • To remove the headrail, press the bracket release point.
