By default, your blind comes with top fix brackets. If you prefer, you can request face fix brackets, which are ideal for fitting inside the window frame or outside the recess.

Before ordering, it’s important to measure your windows correctly. You will need:

  • A steel tape measure.
  • A pencil for marking and writing measurements.
  • A worksheet to record results.
  • A ladder if you are measuring tall windows.

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Always keep height and width measurements separate. Mixing them up may result in blinds that do not fit.
  • Measure every window individually, even if they look the same. Small variations can affect how the blind fits.
  • Use a steel tape measure rather than a cloth one, as cloth tape can stretch and give inaccurate results.

Measuring for an Outside Recess

  • Measure the full size of the area you want the blind to cover.
  • To reduce light leakage, allow the blind to overlap the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • The amount of overlap at the bottom is up to you, but do consider any obstacles such as radiators.
  • Always use a steel tape measure for accurate results.

Measuring for an Inside Recess

  • Measure the complete width and height of the window recess. We will make the necessary deductions to ensure the blind fits properly.
  • Take measurements in three places across both the width and the drop, then use the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make any adjustments yourself, as we will do this to provide a perfect fit.
  • Again, use a steel tape measure for reliable accuracy.

Please check that you have all the parts supplied with your blind before fitting.

Parts and Tools You Will Need

  • 2 x top fix brackets.
  • 2 x face fix brackets.
  • 1 x set of hangers.
  • 1 x Allen key.
  • 2 x stabilising chains.
  • 1 x safety hook.
  • 4 x wood screws.
  • 1 x bottom weight.
  • Screws.
  • A pencil.
  • A drill with the correct drill bits.
  • A crosshead screwdriver.
  • A steel tape measure.

Face Fix Method

  • Place the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail. If more than two brackets are included, position the extra ones evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Ensure the fixings are suitable for the surface you are attaching them to.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it forward into place, and then secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix Method

  • Mark the fixing points, making sure to allow space for window handles or any other obstructions inside the recess.
  • Position the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail to avoid clashes with handles. If more than two brackets are included, spread the extras evenly along the headrail.
  • Ensure the fixings are appropriate for the surface being used.
  • Tilt the headrail into the bracket and rotate it until it clicks into position. To release it, press the release point on the bracket.
