Tools You Will Need

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil for marking measurements
  • Worksheet to record your sizes
  • Ladder for tall windows

Tips for Accurate Measurements

  • Keep height and width measurements separate. Mixing them up may result in a blind that does not fit properly.
  • Measure each window individually. Even small differences between windows can affect the fit of the blind.

Outside Recess

Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, allow the blind to overlap the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.

The overlap at the bottom can be adjusted according to preference, but consider obstacles such as radiators.

Use a metal tape measure as cloth tapes can stretch or bend, giving inaccurate results.

Inside Recess

If the blind is to fit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. We will make the necessary deductions to ensure a perfect fit.

Measure in three places for both the width and the drop, and use the smallest measurement.

Do not make deductions yourself; we will handle them to guarantee the blind fits accurately.

Always use a metal tape measure for precise results.

Before starting, ensure you have all components supplied with the blind.

Extra Equipment You Might Need

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with suitable bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail. If extra brackets are included, space them evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.

Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into position, and secure it by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix

Mark the bracket positions, allowing space for window handles or other obstacles. Place the brackets approximately 10cm from each end of the headrail to avoid interference. If additional brackets are supplied, space them evenly along the length. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.

Tilt the headrail into the bracket, rotate it until it clicks into place, and to release, push the bracket at the marked point.
