  • Lay your current slat out flat.
  • Measure the full length of the fabric.
  • Confirm that the width is 89mm.

Important Note:

You will need at least 75mm of space to install vertical blinds within a recess. For the most reliable results, we recommend using a metal tape measure to take your measurements.

Measuring Guide

When ordering replacement slats only, the size given will be the length of the vertical blind fabric laid on a flat surface. The usual width of a slat is 89mm, which remains the most common size and the one used for most fabrics offered. When you place your order, check that the fabric width is correct. Take measurements to the nearest centimetre. For both the width and height, deduct 1cm, but please do not make any other deductions.

If Slats Are Not Available – Follow These Instructions:

  • Measure the window area to decide the size required.
  • Take a measurement from the opening of the track down to the point where you want the slat to finish.
  • Make sure the slat ends roughly 13mm above any obstacles, such as a sill or radiator.

Counting and Ordering the Correct Number of Slats:

  • Count your current slats or the number of carriers (trucks) on the headrail.
  • Enter the total number required when placing your order.

When fitting your vertical blind, make sure you have all the required parts, including:

  • Top fix brackets (x2)
  • Face fix brackets (x2)
  • Hangers (x1)
  • Allen key (x1)
  • Stabilising chains (x2)
  • Safety hook (x1)
  • Wood screws (x4)
  • Bottom weight (x1)
  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with correct bits
  • Crosshead screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix Method

Position the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail position. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the additional brackets evenly across the blind for support. Check that the fixings you use are suitable for the type of wall or surface. Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it forward into place. Tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to secure the headrail.

Top Fix Method

Mark out the area carefully, making sure to leave enough clearance for any obstructions such as window handles within the recess. The brackets should be positioned about 10cm from each end of the headrail location to allow clearance for the window handle. If extra brackets are provided, fit them evenly across the length of the blind. Always ensure that the fixings you use are appropriate for the surface. Hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until you hear a click. To remove it, press the release point on the bracket.
