A slat-only measurement refers to the length of the vertical blind fabric when it is laid flat. The width of the slat is normally 89mm, which is the most common size and the one most fabrics are produced in.

When ordering, make sure the fabric you select is the correct width. Always measure to the nearest centimetre, then reduce both the height and the width by 1cm. Do not make any further reductions yourself.

If You Do Not Have Slats – Follow These Steps:

  • Measure the size you need directly from your window.
  • Measure from the headrail track opening down to the point where you want the slat to end.
  • The slat should finish around 13mm above any obstruction such as a radiator or a window sill.

How to Count and Order the Right Number of Slats:

  • Count the slats already on your blind or the number of carriers (trucks) on your headrail.
  • When placing your order, type in the total number of slats required.

Check that the following items are included with your vertical blind before you begin:

Extra Tools and Equipment You Will Need:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 bottom weight
  • A pencil
  • Extra screws if needed
  • A drill with suitable drill bits
  • A crosshead screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Fitting

  • Position the brackets about 5cm in from each end of where you want the headrail to sit.
  • If you have more than 2 brackets, space the extras evenly across the length of the blind.
  • Make sure the fixings are suitable for the surface you are attaching them to.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate the rail into position, and tighten the small screw at the front to hold it securely.

Top Fix Fitting

  • Mark and measure carefully to leave space for anything that may stick out, such as window handles.
  • Position the brackets around 10cm in from each end of the headrail, allowing clearance for the window opener handle.
  • If supplied with more than 2 brackets, space the extras evenly across the blind.
  • Ensure your fixings are suitable for the surface where you are installing the brackets.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, rotate it until it clicks into place, and it will be secure.
  • To remove the headrail, press the release point on the bracket and lift it free.
