The “slat only” measurement refers to the length of the fabric slat when it is laid flat. The usual width is 89mm, which is the most common size and the one offered for most fabrics.

When placing your order, please check that the fabric you choose matches the correct width of your headrail. Take your measurement to the nearest centimetre and then deduct 1cm from both the height and width. Do not make any further deductions yourself.

If you do not have any slats currently, follow these steps:

  • Measure the full size required at your window.
  • Take the measurement from the headrail opening down to the point where you would like the slat to finish.
  • Make sure the bottom of the slat ends about 13mm above any obstruction such as a window sill or a radiator.

Counting and Ordering the Right Amount

  • Count either the slats you already have or the number of carriers (trucks) on your headrail.
  • Enter the total number you need when placing your order.

When fitting your vertical blind, make sure you have the following equipment included:

  • 2 x top fix brackets
  • 2 x face fix brackets
  • 1 x set of hangers
  • 1 x Allan key
  • 2 x stabilising chains
  • 1 x safety hook
  • 4 x wood screws
  • 1 x weight
  • A pencil
  • Extra screws if required
  • Drill with suitable drill bits
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

  • Place the brackets about 5cm in from both ends of where the headrail will sit.
  • If more than two brackets are included, position the extra brackets at equal spacing along the length of the blind.
  • Make sure that the fixings are suitable for the type of wall or surface you are fitting onto.
  • To attach, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and tighten the small screw at the front to secure it.

Top Fix

  • Mark out the measurements, making sure you allow space for any obstacles such as handles that project into the recess.
  • Fit the brackets around 10cm in from each end of the headrail so that the blind clears the window handle.
  • If more than two brackets are supplied, space the additional brackets evenly along the headrail.
  • Check that the fixings are right for the wall or surface where the brackets will be mounted.
  • Tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket, then rotate until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, press the bracket and release.
