When measuring slats only, the size will refer to the vertical blind fabric laid flat. The width of the slat is usually 89mm, which is the most common size and the one used for most fabrics.

When placing your order, make sure the chosen fabric matches the correct width. Measure to the nearest centimetre and then subtract 1cm from both the height and width. Do not make any further deductions.

If Slats Are Not Yet Installed, Follow These Steps:

  • Measure the space at your window where the blind is required.
  • Measure from the track opening down to the point where you want the slat to finish.
  • The slat should stop around 13mm above any obstruction such as a sill or radiator.

Counting and Ordering the Correct Number of Slats

  • Count the number of slats already fitted or the carriers on your headrail.
  • Enter the total number needed when placing your order.

Before fitting, check that you have all the following items supplied with your vertical blind:

Items Needed for Installation

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 set of hangers
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • A pencil
  • Screws
  • A drill with the right drill bits
  • A crosshead screwdriver
  • A metal tape measure

Face Fix Installation

  • Position the brackets about 5cm from each end where the headrail will be fitted.
  • If more than two brackets are provided, place the extras at equal spacing across the length of the blind.
  • Ensure that the fixings are suitable for the type of wall or surface being used.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into position, and tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to secure it.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark carefully, allowing for any parts such as window handles that stick out into the recess.
  • Place the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail so the blind clears the window handle.
  • If more than two brackets are provided, position the rest evenly along the headrail.
  • Check that the fixings are suitable for the surface or wall.
  • Tilt the headrail, hook it into the bracket, and rotate until it clicks securely in place.
  • To remove the headrail, press the release section on the bracket.
