Tools you will need:

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil to mark and record measurements
  • Worksheet to note measurements
  • Ladder for tall windows

Tips for accurate measurement:

  • Be careful not to confuse height and width; mixing them up may result in a blind that does not fit.
  • Measure each window individually; even if windows look similar, small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess

  • Measure the area where you want the blind to extend beyond the window. To reduce light gaps, let the blind overlap the top by at least 70mm and the sides by 50mm.
  • Bottom overlap is optional but consider obstacles such as radiators.
  • Use a metal tape measure. Cloth tapes can stretch and give inaccurate results.

Inside Recess

  • Measure the full width and height of the window recess if you want the blind to fit inside. The measurements are taken from the full opening, and the supplier will make the necessary adjustments for a perfect fit.
  • Measure in three places for both width and height, using the smallest measurements.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself; the blind will be made to fit accurately.
  • Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes can stretch and give incorrect readings.

  • Face fix brackets ×2
  • Hangers ×1

Face Fix

  • Position the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrail. If extra brackets are supplied, space them evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into position, and secure by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fix

  • Measure and mark areas to avoid obstacles such as window handles. Position the brackets about 10cm from each end to clear handles. Space any additional brackets evenly along the length. Ensure fixings suit the wall or surface.
  • Tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket. Rotate until it clicks into place. To remove, press the bracket at the hook point.
