Tools Required:

  • A steel tape measure.
  • A pencil for writing down measurements.
  • A worksheet to note all findings.
  • A ladder if you need to measure tall windows.

Important Tips for Accurate Measuring:

  • Always note down width and height correctly. Mixing them up may result in blinds that do not fit.
  • When measuring more than one window, take each measurement separately. Do not assume all windows are the same, as even small differences can affect the fit.
  • Use a metal tape measure, as fabric or plastic ones can stretch and give incorrect figures.

Measuring for Outside Recess:

  • Measure the full area you want the blind to cover.
  • To reduce light entering around the sides, we recommend overlapping the recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
  • At the bottom, the overlap is your choice, but remember to account for obstructions such as radiators.

Measuring for Inside Recess:

  • Take the full width and height of the window recess. We will adjust the size slightly to ensure a neat fit.
  • Measure at three points for both width and drop, and record the smallest measurement.
  • Do not make any deductions yourself – we will do this for you.
  • Always use a steel tape measure for accuracy.

Please make sure you have the following items supplied with your blind:

Included Parts and Tools:

  • 2 x top fix brackets.
  • 2 x face fix brackets.
  • 1 x set of hangers.
  • 1 x Allen key.
  • 2 x stabilising chains.
  • 1 x safety hook.
  • 4 x wood screws.
  • 1 x bottom weight.
  • Screws.
  • A pencil.
  • A drill with correct drill bits.
  • A crosshead screwdriver.
  • A steel tape measure.

Face Fixing Method:

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of where the headrail will sit. If more than two brackets are provided, fit the extra ones evenly along the headrail.
  • Always check that your fixings are suitable for the wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Secure the rail by tightening the small screw at the front of the bracket.

Top Fixing Method:

  • Measure carefully, taking into account any handles or obstructions that project into the recess.
  • Position the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail to allow clearance for window handles. If you have more than two brackets, space them evenly along the rail.
  • Ensure fixings are suitable for the surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket. Rotate it until you hear it click into position. To remove, press the release point on the bracket.
