TOOLS REQUIRED:

  • Steel measuring tape
  • Pencil for marking and noting measurements
  • Worksheet to record findings
  • Ladder, if required for tall windows

TIPS FOR ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS:

  • Keep height and width measurements separate. Mixing them up can lead to a blind that does not fit properly.
  • Measure each window individually. Even similar-looking windows can have slight variations, which can affect the fit.

Outside Recess

Measure the exact area where you want the blind to overlap. To reduce gaps and light leakage, allow at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.

The bottom overlap is optional but take care to avoid obstacles such as radiators.

Use a metal tape measure for accuracy. Cloth tapes may stretch or bend and provide incorrect measurements.

Inside Recess

If the blind is to fit inside the window recess, measure the full width and height of the opening. We will make the necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.

Take three measurements for both width and height, and use the smallest value.

Do not make any deductions yourself, as we will adjust to ensure the blind fits precisely.

Use a metal tape measure to avoid errors caused by stretching or bending.

Before starting, check that all supplied parts are available.

ADDITIONAL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • 2 top fix brackets
  • 2 face fix brackets
  • 1 hanger
  • 1 Allen key
  • 2 stabilising chains
  • 1 safety hook
  • 4 wood screws
  • 1 weight
  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with the correct bits
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

Position the brackets around 5cm from the ends of the headrail. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the additional brackets evenly along the length. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.

Hook the back of the headrail into the brackets, rotate into position, and secure by tightening the short screw at the front.

Top Fix

Measure and mark positions for the brackets, allowing for obstacles such as handles. Place the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail. Space any extra brackets evenly along the length. Ensure the fixings are appropriate for the wall or surface.

Tilt and hook the headrail into the brackets, rotate until it clicks into place. To release, press the bracket at the designated point.
