Tools You Will Need for Measuring Vertical Blinds
Helpful Tips for Accurate Measurements
Outside Recess
Measure the total area you would like the blind to cover. To reduce light escaping around the edges, we suggest allowing the blind to overlap the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
At the bottom, the overlap is your choice, but remember to take into account features such as radiators.
Always use a metal measuring tape, as cloth ones can bend or stretch and give incorrect results.
Inside Recess
If you want the blind to fit within the recess, measure the complete width and height of the space (the actual opening). We will make the necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.
Take three measurements across both the width and the drop, then use the smallest figures.
Do not make any deductions yourself β we will take care of that for you.
Again, always use a metal measuring tape for reliable accuracy.
Before fitting, please make sure you have received all the parts supplied with your vertical blind.
Additional Tools and Equipment You Will Need:
Face Fix
Position the brackets around 5cm from each end of the headrailβs location. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extras evenly along the length of the blind. Check that all fixings are suitable for the type of wall or surface.
To secure, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate it into place. Tighten the short screw at the front of the bracket to lock it firmly.
Top Fix
Mark and measure carefully, allowing enough space for any handles or fittings that may protrude into the recess. Fit the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail position so that handles can clear easily. If additional brackets are provided, place them at equal distances across the length of the blind. Again, ensure all fixings are appropriate for the surface.
Tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks securely. To release it, press the release point on the bracket.
