Tools Needed for Measuring Vertical Blinds
Tips for Accurate Measurements
Outside Recess
Measure the exact area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light leakage, we recommend an overlap of at least 70 mm at the top and 50 mm on each side.
The overlap at the bottom is optional, but take care to consider obstacles such as radiators.
Use a metal tape measure, as cloth ones can stretch and give inaccurate measurements.
Inside Recess
This measurement is needed if you want your blind to fit inside the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess (the size of the hole). We will make the necessary deductions to ensure a perfect fit.
Measure in three places for both width and height, and use the smallest measurement. Do not make any deductions yourself; we will handle that.
Use a metal tape measure, as cloth ones may stretch and produce incorrect results.
Ensure you have the following items included with your vertical blind:
Extra Equipment You Will Need
Face Fixing
Position the brackets approximately 5 cm from each end of the headrail. If more than two brackets are supplied, space any additional brackets evenly across the length of the blind. Make sure the fixings are suitable for the wall or surface you are mounting to.
Hook the back of the headrail into the bracket and rotate the headrail into place. Secure it by tightening the short screw at the front of the bracket.
Top Fixing
Measure the area and mark where any obstacles, such as window handles, may interfere. Position the brackets roughly 10 cm from each end of the headrail to avoid handles. If more than two brackets are supplied, space additional brackets evenly along the length of the blind. Ensure fixings are appropriate for the wall or surface you are mounting to.
Tilt the headrail and hook it into the bracket. Rotate the headrail until it clicks into place. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the designated point.
