When ordering slats only, the measurement will cover the fabric length of the vertical blind laid flat. The usual width for slats is 89mm, which is the most common size and the one used for most fabrics.

When placing an order, ensure your chosen fabric matches the correct width. Always measure to the nearest centimetre. Do not make deductions to the width or drop size.

Slat Measuring and Ordering

If slats are not already available, follow these steps:

  • Measure the exact size needed at your window.
  • Take the measurement from the track opening down to the point where you want the slat to finish.
  • The slat should stop about 13mm above any obstruction, such as a radiator or sill.

Counting Slats:

  • Count the number of existing slats or the number of track hooks on the headrail.
  • When ordering, enter the total quantity required.

Make sure you have the following parts included with your vertical blind:

  • Top fix brackets ×2
  • Face fix brackets ×2
  • Hangers ×1
  • Allen key ×1
  • Stabilising chains ×2
  • Safety hook ×1
  • Wood screws ×4
  • Weights ×1
  • Pencil
  • Screws
  • Drill with the correct drill bits
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Metal tape measure

Face Fix

Fit the brackets around 5cm in from each end of the headrail position. If more than two brackets are supplied, space the extra brackets evenly along the headrail. Always make sure the fixings are suitable for the surface you are attaching to.

To install, hook the back of the headrail into the bracket, rotate it into place, and tighten the small screw at the front of the bracket to secure it.

Top Fix

Mark out the correct distance to allow for any obstacles, such as handles that extend into the recess area. Position the brackets around 10cm from each end of the headrail to ensure clearance for window handles. If more than two brackets are supplied, place the rest evenly across the blind’s length. Check that all fittings are right for the mounting surface.

To fit, tilt and hook the headrail into the bracket, then rotate it until it clicks into place. To remove, press the release point on the bracket.
