Tools you will need for measuring Roman blinds:

  • A metal measuring tape
  • A pencil to mark and record measurements
  • A worksheet or paper to note your sizes
  • A ladder for high windows if required

Tips for accurate measurement:

  • Keep height and width measurements separate. Mixing them up can result in a blind that does not fit.
  • Do not assume multiple windows are the same size. Measure each one individually, as small differences can affect the fit.

Outside Recess Measurement

This is for blinds that sit outside the window frame. Measure the area you want the blind to cover. To reduce light gaps, allow the blind to overlap the top by at least 70mm and the sides by 50mm. The bottom overlap is up to you, but consider obstacles like radiators. Always use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes can stretch and give inaccurate results.

Inside Recess Measurement

This is for blinds that fit inside the window frame. Measure the full width and height of the recess (the window opening). We will make the necessary deductions to ensure a perfect fit. Measure in three places for both width and height, and use the smallest measurement. Do not make any deductions yourself, as we will adjust the blind for a precise fit. Always use a metal tape measure to avoid errors.

Face Fix Installation

  • Place the brackets about 5cm from each end of the headrail. If there are more than two brackets, space the extra brackets evenly along the length. Ensure the fixings are suitable for your wall or surface.
  • Hook the back of the headrail into the brackets and rotate it into place. Secure by tightening the short screw at the front of each bracket.

Top Fix Installation

  • Measure and mark the space carefully to avoid obstacles such as window handles. Position the brackets about 10cm from each end of the headrail. Space any extra brackets evenly along the blind’s length. Make sure the fixings match the wall or ceiling surface.
  • Tilt and hook the headrail into the brackets. Rotate it into position until it clicks. To remove the headrail, press the bracket at the indicated point.
